Companion Dog show 2009
On June 14th we held our annual companion dog show at Langley Village Hall near Maidstone, and this year our chosen charity was the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. This trust was set up by the Kennel Club to help all breeds of dogs – so for us this was a perfect choice.
Our grateful thanks must go to our Sponsors Cobby dog who provided us with our main prizes and to our class sponsors, without whose generosity the success of the event would be diminished.
We had a brilliant entry of 117 dogs and with your help will be able to donate in the region of £188.00 to the Charitable Trust.
On centre stage in the pedigree ring was Mr. John Allan (Jodipus), who found his Best in Show from the Non Sporting Class in the shape of the beautiful Briard, Golly, owned by Diane Goodall. Reserve Best in Show was the wonderful Wolfhound, Shalara, owned by Maggie Holder, Best Puppy in show was Paula Martin’s brilliant young Bracco Italiano – Lola and Best Veteran in Show the gorgeous seven year old German Spitz, Chase, owned by Lynda Hewett.
The ten novelty classes were well supported and holding court in that ring was our own Clare Pearce, who was judging for the first time. She found her best Novelty in Show in the very pretty Pixie a Yorkshire Terrier Cross owned by H Maey, the Reserve Best Novelty in Show was a handsome Leonberger called Nemo, owned by Tony Connell.
Our Handling Classes this year were presided over by Mrs Di Allan (Jodipus) and in the Junior Handling Section, she found her overall best Junior Handler in Emma Coyle with her Tibetan Spaniel – Alice and Res. Best Junior Handler was Lucy Green with her Border Collie, Megan.
The Overall Adult Handler was Carol Johnson with her Cocker Spaniel Livingston.
As usual the obedience was really well supported and this is proving to be a very popular element to our shows and attracts a good entry to the four classes that are scheduled.
Well done to all of the winners, and a big THANK YOU to ALL the exhibitors that came along and took part. Without you all, these events would not happen.
